Did you read the article? Don't fall for fox news type shenanigans. Look past the headline

The school district is simply protecting itself. They gave him back pay because they have no legal right not to do so. He'll spend that 40K in one day of lawyers fees once charges start getting filed.

He's so screwed it's not funny. He'll be sued by every parent that had a kid in his class. 40K is nothing.

Actually, they had the right to fire him, but they couldn't document it due to the police disallowing them from investigating since it would have interfered with the police investigation.
