Actually it appears to have been specific to the e-mail address I switched to a few weeks back. I was using a work e-mail from a company that I don't work for anymore (it isn't even in business anymore) and I wanted to switch to a real e-mail address. Everything was fine until today, when I logged in using that e-mail address it assigned that stupid 'gamer' name to me. I still haven't been able to recover it.

If you have multiple old accounts all going to the same email you could have the problem I have. I can't interact with the IGN system in any way. And I know why. A while ago they wanted to force people in my situation to choose one account for that login email address. When they added that code they completely broke me. They just don't care enough to fix it. I guess I understand.

I actually only had one e-mail associated with this account. I logged in a week or two ago and changed that old e-mail to a current Yahoo account (one that I actually have access to, unlike the old one). But today I try to log in and it logs me in with that weird name. I had to use this old e-mail address to get in under this name. Really strange.
