In Canada, if you save into an RRSP (retirement savings plan) the tax is deferred until withdrawal.

Assuming your income is reduced (small or no pension plan other than the National one), you actually benefit and don't pay as much tax.

However, someone that didn't save may also get the OAS (old age security) benefit which, because you did save and your income is higher, you won't get (they call it 'claw back'.

In other words, incomes during working years being equal, the non-saver get's more social benefits than the saver.


This means savers have been douched by the Great Canoe.

When it's not used for retarded crap like this! In Sweden the state has always run a few corporations that provided services to the people.. The corporations where always cheap efficient or they quickly got either sold or repaired and this has worked fine. Problem is that now we have a gov that lowers the taxes, sells off a few chicks that lay golden eggs and does it all to fund short term tax breaks for rich people, gee I wonder who did this before.

We have two camps - one where people feel 'fair share' means someone pays nothing in income taxes while someone else pays out the nose, and a second where people feel everyone should pay the same amount and let that be all.

Obviously, the latter taxation model means there isn't a whole lot of money to spend.

Sadly, democracies don't have, and politicians universally reject, spending caps and spending restrictions.

In my world, essentials would be the main spending target, ie, infrastructure. Roads, schools, hospitals, water and sewer, etc.

These are areas Government should be interested in for the good of all people.


There are many, many many that they have no business being involved in or spending my money on.

I say utilities, natural resources and strategic resources, healthcare and education should never be private.

I think they should raise taxes for it, people who don't want to contribute to the building of the nation and it's evolution are f'kin morons.. Gits who think small and want to conserve society and not evolve it, there should be no plan for the next 10 years the only thing we should do is pay as little taxes as possible, work and consume.

The last 20 years or so we've stopped being humans and become consumers, there is a life beyond working and buying stuff..
