At least one of the employees had never touched an iPad before. Not much of a GOTCHA! if you ask me.
I agree the new iPad is pretty underwhelming, but there's not a lot you can do with them until they become flexible or get a battery life of 100+ days.

It is underwhelming except for the screen. My one big problem with the ipad 2 was the resolution, and this fixed it. For me it was worth hocking my old one and upgrading for $100 total...

I have an iPad 2 and it doesn't really bother me that I can see pixels when I strain my eyes. To each their own, I guess.
