They shoulda done two books per season and cut out a lot of the crap. Big long fantasy tomes don't translate well episode-for-episode into TV.
When you look at it there was really about 4-5 episodes of real content in the first season. It got better at the end but it was pretty thin for the first 7 or so episodes.
