They've got a chronic shortage of cabbies there and have been trying to attract Greek and Irish taxi drivers down under. I threw in my app for the helluvit. I was curious how far I would have to drive from there for good reef diving and also for backpacking.

I live in Melbourne. Ask away
You can dive down here in Victoria in port Philip Bay. You will be about 2000 km from the great barrier reef. Back packers are everywhere down here, they tend to start or finish their trip around Australia in Melbourne.
Without a doubt this is one of the best places in the world to live but as a taxi driver you may be exposed to some of the worst of it. It's an exspensive place to live to, I don't know how much they are offering but it might not be as much as you think when you factor in cost of living. The exchange rate with USD might look good but you still pay more for almost everything. Depending on what your work visa lets you do, check out the mines as soon as you can

Yeah, I've been looking into it on and off today and the cost of living is too high. It would be a cool adventure, but I'll probably end up stayin here. I'm thinking about buying my own cab anyway.

You wouldn't want to stay in melbourne anyway, crazy racist white people will stab you at the end of a ride and take your money, ie what happened to the Indian drivers in melbourne, one even had gasoline poured on him and he was set alight
dont trust smellymotor, i give you the real scoop!

Yeah, I think a few people might get scammed by what looks like good money until you see the cost of living. If you own your own cab it's probably good money

I had a dream. It was an incredible dream. When I awoke, I had a huge mess to clean up.
