If you have sex with a 15 yr old girl who is getting tried as an adult for a crime, does that make it ok?

You mean if I have sex with her does that make her crime okay? I don't think so but it might be worth a try.

Why would an adult want to have sex with a child ?... no matter what the courts say.

Because movies taught them that it's a very bad thing to do. Half of our entertainment gives bad ideas to people who'd probably have just killed puppies had they not been exposed to more horrible ideas.

It's really remarkable how stupidly inconsistent our laws are.

This is my primary gripe with them. They need to be much more consistent, founded on more consistently universal, constitutionally proven principles. This alone would make them far less complex.

17 for military service, 16 for driving, but 21 for drinking? Based on massive federal pressure on the states to create that inconsistent baseline?

Totally. F*king. Stupid.

You're an adult citizen and responsible, or, you aren't. Done and done.

Does the crime involved the 15 year old's twin sister as an accomplice? It would change my answer if so.

Ethically, only where 15 isn't 'jail bait'.

Legally, only where 15 isn't 'jail bait'.

Law > Ethics in any case.

Ethics tend to pander to morality which is subjective.

Law is (hopefully) objective.
