I was asking myself the other day is it really worth running Legendary weapons for the xtra damage other than maybe filling in some loose holes in my template? So I have a few questions?


1. What does every toon start at as far a Essence resistance? Is it 0%?


2. How much does Resistance of the Ancients add to this percentage? 25%?


3. Are there any other ways of raising Essence resist?

Everybody has 0% resistance to essence damage. There are 3.5 ways to gain essence resist.


1) CTR - The 5% damage reduction works on essence damage

2) Resistance of the Ancients - Yes, it's 25%

3) ML10 Cloaks - The HoT /use charge also casts a 4-hour buff that gives 25% resistance to essence damage (but only while the cloak is equipped)

3.5) Celestial Fragments - The item dropped during the Infernal Invasion live event, has a /use that gives an essence resist buff, but the item is not rechargable.

I'm guessing CTR is, but is the ML10 Cloak HoT Stackable with RotA?

I would guess not. I would offer to test it, but I probably won't be able to get to it before some other helpful soul here on the VNs does. (Or a troll, they need love too)


CTR is a completely different tier of resist than all other resists in the game, so it does stack.

I'll try it tommorow, but I hope it doesn't stack. Then I can just forget about swapping out Legy's and just run Astral. Thanks for your help

The ML10 Cloak and RotA essence resist do not stack from what I just tested. I however do like the fact that there is no timer on the ML10 Cloak resist buff.
