I updated the URL in DE under "Main, Options, Other, Update URL" to http://www.direlands.net/derethexplorer/autoupdate/autoupdate.php

but updater is not using that location.

When I try to update the locations database, I get

"Opening http://www.thelostcorpses.com/derethexplorer/autoupdate/autoupdate.php?version=0.2.2.0

No proxy is being used.

Expected content length: -1 bytes.

Created temporary file C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\tmp5E.tmp

Saved data to temporary file.

Error upon extracting the update list: There is an error in XML document (1, 2)."

"Update Failed. Could not parse the update information"

Also, using a browser to go to http://www.direlands.net/derethexplorer/autoupdate/autoupdate.php

gives a 404 page not found error.

that looks like a parsing error in the XML document.

I had similar problems when I made the MagellanUpdater because the format of the XML file wasn't really an XML file based on the information it contained.

I don't know what this particular issue is, and you'd have to ask Gawa or someone who knows the program and stuff better, but I'd venture a guess that the parser is trying to load malformed XML.

You are not the first person to hit this problem. You should monitor this thread:

Yes, the update system is completely broken and I can't repair it. I was expecting it and rewrote it a few weeks ago, but it'll also require some adjustments to the client. I'll be releasing a new version of Dereth Explorer later this week.
