I haven't used the Server in over a year. Does tracking still work in ACX ?

It's really a shame too, about AC Explorer (ACX), I'm not sure which of the 'Top Three' (Decal, ACX, Dual Client) I'd pick as my most-used or most-valuable piece of software.


It would take very little to update ACX. No changes, God no. I abhorr feature creep.


Dereth Explorer is a great (new) program as well, but I still find myself using ACX 99% of the time.

The ACX server piece is forever broken, but Dereth Explorer implemented the same client-server data structure in it's client, so it's possible to use the AC Explorer map and interface with the D.E. tracking server.


It works, but i've had problems with the DE server crashing (it doesn't crash AC, but I'll get thrown to desktop and see the dialog box for DE with a big red "X" in it, like it had a rendering problem or something), and it also seems to slow my system down a bit when it's running (though I haven't done extensive testing to be sure that's the cause).


I'd love to have a more lightweight & reliable utility as the server...zugg does have the details on how the client-server comunication works at http://www.zuggsoft.com/ac/tracking.htm , but it's beyond my programming skill to write a new server.
