Forgive this stupid mage who does not know what makes a good weapon ...
What are the settings that you have for weapons? Do you even set a profile for spears? What do you have for Armor settings and what WS?

research.... weapon and armor information can be found in the links on the top of this page. BTW, I only have weapons/armor in there that I am currently using or have an expressed interest in, so I couldn't help you anyhow.
