If they weren't necessary, I don't believe they would be in there. You could always try running Decal without those filters turned on.

Lifetank requires Darkside Filter to be enabled for it to work correcty. When we complete our port to C#, the filter will not be needed any more... but that will be some time down the road I'm afraid.

I would say use the tools you have given to you.
Remove the check boxes 1 by 1 and see what does or does not work. There is your answer.
