It casts them same spell for attack on my mage regardless of how I set it.

force default damage checked? (macro tab -> mage)

check to make sure you have the correct level of the spell you want to cast. I had a similar issue on a new mage.

also check the mob tab and make sure that it has the right spell for mobs, newely detected mobs are set to slash or pierce automatically soo.....
