I'm preparing to swap out pc's and don't want to lose some of the account settings that I have, as they are quite old and I know I don't have the info stored anywhere else. Any way to just swap the data files or anything?

Disable the MachineID and Password option.


Then just save the ACDualClient.ini file


Copy to the new machine, and put a password/machineID on the new machine.


Your characters are secured and transported


Be aware that disabling the password removes some of the "extra" security put onto the account information.


The password is there to help encrypt the data and prevent people from being able to decrypt the information on their own machine.

Hmm.. those seemed to have been disabled by default (I never changed it). I guess I'll give it a try. Might as well, since I'm waiting for the village police department to come unlock my car.

IF they were disabled, then you never enabled them.


Its not a huge issue... you just don't get the extra security and protection on your accounts.


(if someone were able to get the file off your computer, they could put it on their computer and log in with your accounts)


The password protection makes the information more secure by encrypting it with your own password rather than the "default" password. Enabling that option forces the user to type in the password each time they launch ACDualClient.


The MachineID option makes it so that the password doesn't have to be entered every time, but it still uses your password to encrypt the data. It uses the unique machine id to "store" the hashed form of your typed in password. If the other computer doesn't have that same MachineID, then the password has to be entered to decrypt the information as ACDualClient doesn't know what it is.


That's all it does.
