Just some FYI AVG 9.0 will minimize AC every 30 min to 1 hr. So far I'm only encountered this under Windows XP. More info available at http://forums.avg.com/us-en/avg-free-forum?sec=thread&act=show&id=34721&type=0

DL the updated installer.
Uninstall the product.
Reboot.
Reinstall the product.
seems to solve the issue.

Uninstall AVG, install Microsoft Security Essentials.

This seems to be some problem with people who updated from 8 (or was it 8.5).
They released an "updated" installer to fix the problem but it kept doing it.
The final solution seemed to be uninstalling and then reinstalling.
My favorite posts from the board was the very indignant person going on about how this was unacceptable, they were all stupid and if this wasn't fixed in the next day they would take their business elsewhere. Hes using a free product, sort of leaves you without alot of power to make those sorts of demands...
