I need some help with a wierd problem with AC and or Dcal / VTank


My wife and I came back to AC about a week ago. We had 1 new computer and an older one. Needless to say we fought over who used the newer comp. The older one was very slow and jerky video. Lag city! So we decided to get a new computer. I installed AC and we played together with no problem the first day. The next day a friend suggested I install Virindi Tank, which I did and I loved it. Now when my wife is logged in and I log in she gets booted (Lost Server msg) and the same thing happens if I am logged in and she logs on.


The wierd thing is when I log in on my account I see her open pack and her spell bar not mine right before I get booted.


This happens weither or not Decal / VTank is running or not so I am am not sure they are related at all.


I can cycle the power on the router and restart the computers then without decal running we can play together for awhile before it happens again. If I start decal /VTank it happens right away.


Either computer can play AC and the other computer surf the web or play some other game without issue only when both are trying to play AC does this happen.


1st computer is running Windows Vista

2nd computer is running Windows 7

Linksys G router

AC is installed on my D: drives in their own folders on both computers.

Decal / VTank is only installed on the Vista computer on D: drive in its own folder.


I just spent a chunk of change on the computer so before I buy anything else I thought I would check with the people in the know!


Please help! My char is a Mage and hers is a melee so we were ment to be together.

you are using a router


and using the same ports to connect/talk to AC/Turbine.


2 solutions. USE AC-DC and let it auto-port for you. or edit your throne of destiny/launcher.ini (make backups FIRST)


last line is usually:

serverport=5002


on one computer change that to =5007


a number 4 or 5 up from the 5002.


you should then be able to log both accounts on at the same time.

Agnari is correct about the AC ports being the issue. However, each AC client uses up to 7 ports. So, to be safe you should instead do something like:

Machine 1: 9000
Machine 2: 9010

AC doesn't care which ports you use above 9000, as far as I can tell, so if you use ACDC you can do something like:

Machine 1: 9000-9099
Machine 2: 9100-9199

7 thanks for the tip i thought it was 4 so using 5 above was save


as it uses 7, then 8 up is better.

Well, as far as I know it is one per subserver, and they aren't using that many subservers now. So smaller numbers may be safe, but it doesn't hurt to leave some extra room.

I tried changing the .ini but that would not work with anything but 5002.

I installed ACDC and set the ports:

Comp 1 9000-9050
Comp 2 9100-9150

That says it covers 4 clients.

Everything is running great!
