Can someone explain to me how Virindi Tank buffs please?

I'm trying to use it on a level 50 mage to self buff.
When I start it, it goes through some error spam about not knowing level 1 spells... it buffs Armor Self 1 and then banes my armor with 4's.
I want it to buff level 5 or 6 and up. My skills are a base 200 which should be enough to do 5's to start.

Do I have to buy all my spells including level 1-4?
Where in V Tank can I set it to buff with a particular level spell? (I can't seem to find the setting.)
Anything else I should check or set up?

Combat (war spells) seems to work fine.

My other character who uses level 7's works just fine (full buffs and banes with level 7's) so I'm kinda lost here.

vtank likes to try to cast optimized spells for push stam to mana and recover stam (probably a few others i've never bothered to notice). that way if a level 4 is needed it doesn't end up burning comps or fizzling on level 7 version of the spell.


so yes for those type and the self heal it is best to go buy all 1-4 or even 5 versions of those spells.
