mag tools, beta and xp

I love the new plug-in mag tools, using it on one of my comps w win7 and the new beta decal. I tried using it w decal 2.9.6.0 and it doesn't seem to work, so I updated to 2.9.6.5 on my xp machine and now ac crashes on log in. Anyone know a way to fix this? I would rather not have to install win7 on the other comp but I'd like to use the updated decal and run mag tools.
