for mage specs I remember War/Life spec and Og. Are there others that are considered more viable now?
Also, what is void magic good for? specific classes or mobs?

From what I can tell traditional mage specs are still very viable. I've been playing a Void Mage on DT (I just came back) and I am having no issues leveling up with it.
So far I have not run into any mobs that are resistant to Void Magic but, I believe some super high levels creatures that are resistant to Life Drains are also resilient/resistant to Void Magic.
Some people seem to prefer a melee/void hybrid, normally UA or 2handed. Put on 1/3 or 2/3 of the Void Dots and then melee your targets down but, this is probably more of a PVP thing.
Void Magic is easier to manage than War Magic is, there are only a handful of spells to keep track of. Three dots, a bolt, a streak, an arc, a healing debuff and a damage output debuff. I will say that War Magic is still king for big numbers and spike damage.

Since you can breeze to 47 with the facility hub quests its not like stats mean much, throw in the fact two hour buff bots are available on white servers
