they conducted a test that was video taped. the results were then sent to a lab. sounds ok to me.

The tests weren't conducted scientifically. They just got a bunch of cops drunk and had em use the breathalyzer. How exactly would that be verifying the accuracy of the device? Different amounts of alcohol will cause different BAC in different people, iirc. If I was a judge I wouldn't accept the results either.

The other story I read discussed comparison between what the BAC machine said and what the blood tests read, to see if the machine was accurate. It's not very evident in that story, but I do believe that was the point of the exercise. I don't understand the bit about Doritos though. Is that supposed to alter BAC readings?
The "Intoxilizer 8000" (sounds like something from a Simpson's episode) has been a huge one of contention down here. They had to throw out hundreds, if not thousands of DUI cases because of the machine.

maybe what works in a lab, under specific cicumstances, doesnt always work in rl w/ all sorts of variables.
so they are trying to make it more....rl testing.
