I thought I was gonna die.

Its not so bad just having power out, but it's freaking cold too, and I am sick.

every store was out of D batteries (people should make note of this event for future reference). All the lanterns people use these days with the LEDs run on D's. Thankfully mine still worked, but I was getting nervous that they were going to run out of power.

Without a fan to push it around, the wood stove doesn't do a lot to heat the house, but at least I had hot water heated on the stove to put in a water bottle and take to bed with me.

thankfully no car crashes, and haven't gotten stuck anywhere, no branches landed on my house but listening to the ice and snow fall onto the roof from the 100ft high cedar was somewhat disturbing. I won't know if there is any roof damage for a few days though.

It ended up that we had freezing rain on top of the 10" of snow that encased the tree limbs in half inch of ice, lots of downed trees and limbs all over. I lost 5 limbs from tall juniper trees in my yard alone, and a small fir tree in back. Many roads are closed due to downed trees, and at my last check there were 20K people in my city alone without power, and a lot more in the surrounding towns.

rofl, thankfully not from my own body... just from my yard!

some guy died from falling limbs though, I was scared going out to get wood for the stove with all the ice falling out of the trees.

I didn't notice. I don't know what you went through. All I have to say is:

Shame on you for not having internet.

Shame on you for not flaming some ACFer who deserved it when you were conveniently surviving from the cold, slacker.

Dont worry I will give my opinion anyways.

yes, lanterns, vibrators generally take AA or AAA, or sometimes fancy watch/camera batteries.
