Anyone else use this to index their drives? Friend just showed me this little command... We wanted to see how fast it would run on an SSD... I just ran it again... It did 70GB in 17 Seconds...
Anyways, it's suppose to help you locate any files on the drive that are corrupt; and helps with searches as it indexes the file names.

Indexing on a SSD I think would actually be counter productive, I would think

Well cause you're constantly reading and writing to a page file, a page file that soaks up writes and to be honest probably doesn't help speed up searching at all compared to regular access speeds of an SSD
I cannot produce any evidence of it not being faster, but just based on my knowledge of how SSD's work and their capable speeds I would say a indexing would be worst for an SSD because it soaks up writes (which limits the lifespan of your SSD) and the improvement is probably negligible at best
SSD's are architecturally more structured than HDDs so their raw access times are far quicker to not really need a page file to find files. Files don't go corrupt on SSDs nearly as often, if really ever, compared to HDDs as well
Windows 7 turns off indexing automatically when it is installed on a SSD for these reasons

It doesn't hurt it, but SSDs are limited in the number of writes they are able to perform. After that it dies. A system can perform lots and lots of reads and writes on the page file which will yes technical hurt it in a way
I am not positive a page file does really anything for an SSD anyhow. Fileblocks are arranged different in a SSD vs a HDD, different architecture

Intex is correct, though: Indexing is not beneficial on SSDs, and without proper TRIM commands can actually damage SSDs, in the long run.

nm, yeah i was pretty wrong, and apparently a page file isn't that bad on a SSD at all (some steam games require it?) I assumed lots of random writes = bad for SSD's life span. a lot of optimization guides say to disable it/move it to the hdd. i just disabled mine but apparently it doesn't really get used that often at all if you have lots of ram
indexing i still think is pointless though, pretty sure windows 7 disables it once it sees the SSD
