already back up to 3.39 from 3.16 a few days ago at some stations

No idea but it's jacked up about 30 cents the past two weeks. Meanwhile, oil is falling ...

There were big concerns here locally with the pending strike. The refinery here is the third largest in the US (we're told) and produces some incredibly high percentage of gasoline made in the CONUS. Locally, refinery workers were already looking for jobs, and everyone filled up all their gas tanks in expectation of super high prices at the pumps. Tuesday night at midnight was the strike time, but they got a 24 hour extension, and then settled Wednesday.

I'd love 3.39 gas. Ours here is 30-50cents more expensive.

It was in the news a few days ago, maybe last week to expect higher gas prices countrywide, ie $4ish+ / gallon by spring.
The usual bs reasons were given of course.
