Got back this morning from a scientific conference in San Diego and all I can say is, ow, my liver!

All I saw of San Diego really was the convention center and the Gaslamp Quarter, but it was pretty nice.

We did a drive out to La Jolla to visit a collaborator's site. It's really beautiful, but I prefer Boston.

Saw some cool tech and met some very interesting people. Hope I can do it again sometime.

Oh and flying JetBlue is the way to go domestically, the whole plane watched the Super Bowl the whole way down, plane full of Pats fans, it was awesome until they lost.

What'd I miss in the last few days, ACF?

LOL, well, the plane was kind of quiet at the start of the game, then as we neared the half and the Pats decided to play football people got more vocal and reactive. The second half things were much the same until the last half of the fourth quarter, building to a cumulative, "ARRGGHHH!!" at the last play, then that was it. The final descent into San Diego was very quiet. I did kind of wish I was on ACF, that must have been a fun thread because it was a very interesting game.

At one exciting moment the DirectTV connection died and everyone started laughing, and since there were loads of MIT people on board, I yelled, "LSC...!" but didn't get the expected response.

But it was very fun watching it with a whole bunch of people like that. Definitely the most enjoyable plane ride I have ever taken.
