I had never heard of her, either, before I started through the series. Peter Firth was the only one of them I'd seen before (well, and Hugh Laurie in season 1, just before he started House).
They're so good about never letting you know who is going to get wacked next, that I figured she was going to get killed off eventually, but as I start watching season 4, she's just GONE.
