ok Got a PC that has had these issues but until I now I never needed to have it looked at.

- I can play videos (double clicking avi and wmv etc etc files and watching full screen)
- I can net around as normal
- I can play music on WMP and full screen it

- I (can't) Full screen Youtube, I can watch in normal small screen mode or blow it up to half screen but when I play full screen it will play for a bit then lock up and my screen goes black. I cannot access anything on my PC. I end up having to reboot.

- I (can't) (just found this out) stream "some" games full screen with Xsplit streaming using Twitch. It does the same thing as Youtube does, it locks up and goes black screen. Although ... I can play ANY game on my PC, MMO style game or single player, whatever they will all play fine in windowed mode and full screen.

What would cause this to happen?

this computer I have the issues on runs .....


The monitor is a 42inch LCD "Sony" and I know its not the LCD because my computer sitting to my left runs the same 42inch LCD. I have updated drivers for video card also. so /shrug I am at a loss here and could use some help if anyone has it. thanks in advance.


PS: I came here because ...... well ACF usually has the answers

I kinda have similar problems with some vids on youtube. It doesn't lock up though, it just looks scrambled.

no, mine will just lock up and the screen will go black and thats it, I cannot access anything after that and have to reboot ... it's aggravating. The video card is pretty good but it's not GREAT, but still it shouldn't be having these issues. I can stream something like WoW and it streams and plays fine. I dunno wth is going on with it.

upgraded flash player?

youtube uses flash, so try right clicking on the videos and making sure something weird isn't turned on in properties or something...

The scrambled bit (when full screen) is probably because of the video quality. When you go full screen it tries to put the video in HD. If it wasn't uploaded in HD, it scrambles it until you change the quality back.

To kind of go along with my last post, can you play a youtube video at 480p or higher when in the normal non full screen, or does it lock up as well? (qual change icon is 4th from the right on the bottom of the video if you didn't know this)

It may not help, but if it crashes as well, it might be something to do with HD, but NFC what that could mean.
