But WOW! Fresh powder! No skill! 2500 ft drop! No real clue how to get down!
Backcountry ski guru, I am not - but I did get complimented on my skis (dude said they were really nice) and called a stud on the trail back to Alpental when I explained that I was going slow, thru trees with a probably pale ghostly face, because I'd never done ANY of this before. *ambles off to get a beer*

Oh the route down was easily seen enough. However my limited skill set while strapped into a pair of skis made the way down somewhat dodgy. I did some great turns in near the bottom of the couloir though in great *untouched!!* backcountry powder. I was utterly terrified at the prospect of bombing down a 2000ft face... but I managed to inch my way down

and you want to elaborate on what you got?
I'm in the process of getting back into skiing after about a 15 year break. Just picked up a pair of very slightly used Salomon boots ( can't really rent boots my size... 33 mondo ) and looking at putting a set of skis together.

Ski Trab Duo Freerando lights, or something like that... just read the damn skis. Dynafit TLT Vertical ST bindings and Black Diamond Prime boots. The entire set up is built for alpine touring, and I got to do that for the first time today - they worked GREAT!!! I can move uphill very easily, just not downhill...

I can't even forgive myself for the dead battery - it was GORGEOUS up there today!! The spindrift was creating waves in the snow and once the sun burned off the cloud cover it was sparkling white heaven across a glacial carved valley. Looked like someone took an ice cream scoop and carved a valley out of vanilla ice cream with striations of rock thrown in.
