Ah! Very possible. Yeah the video was pretty damning. Anyone that saw it on the street knew it was on purpose and stopping immediately makes it look like he is stopping to gloat or laugh.

Think of it like this.
With the video: Obvious speed up, swerve out, swerve into him. 17 months prison.
Without the video: 15 witnesses who see different things. A driver and rider who had argued about being too close. Bus driver testifies that he was trying to go around and misjudged, or that he didn't see him until the last second and tried to swerve around(as long as he's consistent with his story). 1 month prison and some probation, maybe. Loses bus drivers license.
It's amazing what video evidence does to a trial.
