dvd tray will not eject...

anyone know why an empty dvd drive wont eject?? and using the hole in front doesn't help, the tray does not move.
I hit the button and I can hear it trying to open but notta

You should only use the manual release when the computer is powered down. Turn off the computer and try the manual release. If, after a reboot, the thing still won't respond get a new one they are cheap.

tried that too, ive rebooted a few times since it happened, been 2 days now
edit:
tried manual release when powered down and notta
tried uninstalling drivers and notta
