Browsing google I came upon the 60 minute interview with Alex Honnold, he climbs up huge vertical cliffs with no safety mechanisms.

He obviously knows 100% what he is doing, but what if anything strange happens, like your hand mysteriously cramps up.. would you call what he does crazy?

Bat crap crazy. I understand why he does it but anyone that willingly goes without any precautions doing something like that is just not right in the head. One thing goes wrong, grab a spot of fresh bird crap or get some sand in your eyes or whatever and it is bye bye. Not worth it IMHO.
