avalanches are like riptides.. don't try to out run them, ski/swim to the left/right out of them.

Thats actually IN bounds at a resort?
I've been snowboarding since I was a kid and never seen even a little avalanche in bounds at a tahoe resort. They nuke any slopes that have potential every morning to prevent that.
Anyway, epic video. I think he had a chance to ski out of it though, prolly fell more due to surprise than anything else.

The Mt Baker ski area is HUGE - utterly massive. They had 3 MAJOR avalanches at Crystal Mt near Mt Rainier last year as well. Last weekend when those 4 people died out here, what you DIDN'T hear was 3 people got caught in one at Crystal (inbounds no less) - you just didn't hear about it because no one was hurt. I have a ski bum friend who spends 4-5 days a week out there...

One of my friends was really good friends with one of the dudes that died up Steven's. The whole town of Leavenworth is pretty bummed about what happened as they were really well known around this part. Sad story. :-\

Baker is my main ski mountain, it is definitely some rough terrain.
My best friends brother died in a similar situation, in a very similar area of the mountain....
