humans: 20-20k Hz

moth: 1-240k Hz

I wonder what is going on in the upper range?

dolphins do echolocation with clicks in frequency corresponding to their Hearing Range ((dolphin) = 200 to 150,000 Hz) so that explains that.

That's just like being able to see out of the normal range of human vision. It's there but pretty much ignored. Dog can also hear a higher frequency than we can.

I can hear higher frequencies than most -- it mainly causes problems as a lot of electronic devices have this tendency to emit noise in such frequencies which makes them REALLY ANNOYING -- although sometimes it leads to knowing there is an unseen issue with an electronic device.

bees can see outside the normal range of human vision. they can see in UV and it's not ignored. the petals of many flowers look very different in UV light.

while it could be that mice can hear that high of frequency for no particular reason you haven't made an argument for that.
