I have kids, and I don't see why another 100 people would have to be forced to listen to a "code red meltdown" for close to the 4 hours it takes for the flight...
And 2k for a hotel overnight, that's BS.

There isn't always the option of leaving kids behind. I had to take my eldest with me to Germany when we got stationed there. She was only 10 months old at the time, and it was a non-stop flight from San Francisco to Frankfurt. Over 12 hours on a plane with a sub-1-year-old. There were no other options.
Thankfully she was the most laid back baby/kid ever and we had no issues. I've actually never had any issues with my kids on planes, at any age (we don't fly often, but we have needed to a few times. I've never flown with them for vacations), but then I've always come well-prepared.
The $2000 for hotel accommodations makes me go wtf as well...I don't believe that. Now, if it was that for hotel plus re-booking the flight, that's a bit more believable.
