I had one of those years ago.
It was an awesome little car. Not much in the way of comfort, but it always started, always got me where I was going, and it was cheap as hell to maintain and put gas in.
Should have never sold it.

I can confirm this theory.
The hatch area also can be used as emergency extra seating for smaller adults, those who are constantly throwing up from imbibing too much from the keg that sat there before them in particular.
