I didn't realize we had probes out 14.7 and 17.9 billion kilometers away from Earth...
21.2billion appears to be the edge of our solar system.
Man that's cool.

The first time it really hit me how big it all is, was when National Geographic put a map of the universe in the magazine.
Just seeing how little our galaxy is blew my mind.

Sort of related...
They're (NASA and DARPA amongst others) trying to push forward with building an interstellar ship to get us outside our solar system:

The science and engineering behind this...it's science fiction but based in reality. Just crazy some of the stuff they've accomplished in the last 50years so it makes me hopeful they could do something this amazing.
I always wanted to be an AeroSpace Engineer because this stuff interests me so much...sadly I'm not smart enough.

we did a scale project of the solar system in physical science, class and using a "human" scale and the outer planets ended up miles away.
it was a neat way of putting the size of the solar system in prospective.
