I have to get it done tomorrow as part of my surgery followup. I'm sure it won't be any fun, but I'm wondering how bad to expect it to be. I haven't really been taking/needing my vicodin, so I might load up on those before hand if its especially awful.

No experience with that, but I did have a bleeding nose that couldn't be stopped and they had to pack my sinuses once.

HOLY EFFING CARP! that hurt. I mean, on a scale of 1 to 10...it was a 53. I'll bleed to death before I ever let someone do it again. Seriously.

Hope the stuff they are doing to you isn't that bad. I'd show up stoned out of my mind just to be safe however. Good luck.

I don't think they packed my sinuses, because part of the point of the operation was to make sure they were draining right, but I don't know for sure. For some reason none of the doctors came and talked to me afterwards, they just talked to my mom while I was in the recovery room.

You would know if they packed your sinuses. They take like 39 pounds of gauze and shove it up your nose until every bone in your face cracks and you start puking from the pain. Takes about half an hour for them to shove it all up there, and you cry and scream the entire time. They finally stop when you pass out or you start chewing on your wrists trying to open a vein.

I've had my chest cracked open while still conscious and sinus packing was waaaaaay more painful and more terrifying.

Good thing is, I looked up sinus debriding....and it's not all that bad and nothing like sinus packing. I'd still get a little messed up before I went to have it done however. Having a doctor screw around with areas of your face and head is not fun. Hope it goes easy for ya.

I don't remember that much about it - I was knocked unconscious.

I do, however, remember when they took it out.

no, but i've had a bunch of bone shaved off around that area to make room to actually breathe and have some place for mucus to go. it wasn't that bad, honestly the two times i had septoplasties were way worse. even for those i stopped taking vicodin after the second day, and would only take it to fall asleep cause theres not much to do during recovery except play games.

the packing removal is pretty crazy though, always a fun experience
