Remember back in the day

when you could trade any item to anybody and the worst restriction on items were a level requirement?
In MMOs nowadays why is everthing Bind on Equip or Bind on Pickup? Why cant i trade these items to my alts or to random people i pass because they were lucky.
I remember being so happy when nice people traded me Purps in DAoC. Its like "yeah i get to look forward to using that one day"

Or when someone in AC gave you a "sweet nekode" but you had to take their word for it, since you couldn't ID it

Bolded why. BOE and BOP were created to keep you from twinking out your alts.

The no trade/drop restriction is there to make sure the player has done the required task, rather than have someone else do it for them. Level restrictions exist to avoid giving a low level character an advantage over similar level characters.
